The New Forest Show is the highlight of the summer months. Whilst to the visitor it may look more like a mix between funfair and shopping spree, to the commoner it is the chance to show off their animals, their skills, and also put the world to rights whilst watching the competition or gathering in the “Heart of the Forest” area. On top of all this activity, which requires animals and commoners well scrubbed up, some Young Commoners will also be getting grubby making house name plates at the CDA stand: A very popular way for people to show their support for the real New Forest and an important boost to CDA funds.

Out on the Forest teams will be pulling the ragwort that is poisonous to the departures livestock, and commoners will be doing the same on their back-up land: Back-breaking. but important work given the invasive nature of the plant and its love of New Forest soils.
